After Bachelorette Emily Maynard‘s reported cheating via text with football player Matt Leinart, followed by an alleged deal to split her Bachelorette cash with fiancé Jef Holm to stay together, and supposed staged photo opps to make it appear like the pair was still dating, the couple has officially split.
“I am sorry to tell you that Jef and I have, indeed, parted ways,” Maynard says. “It was a very difficult and heartbreaking decision.
“As you know, at first I wasn’t sure that I should even be The Bachelorette, but I am a hopeless romantic and I do believe in the show. I have no regrets because I did find love and shared an incredible journey with a really special person – and you know what, we tried our best because the love between us was so real.
In our experience, if you must emphasize that something is “so real,” it usually means it wasn’t. No offense, Emily.
Also, let it be known that Jef changed his Facebook status from “engaged” to “single.” Womp-womp.
We’re still looking forward to the televised December nuptials of another Bachelorette couple, Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum, though. Long live TV love (or something like it)!
